I know you are good, good to those whose heart is turned towards you, who are pure in heart.
Yet, sometimes Lord, I forget
I look to others and my grip on you slides
The godless seems so well, so healthy, so confident
They are proud, they scoff, they are arrogant
They claim you cannot possibly know them and what they do
And Lord, sometimes I find this hard to watch.
Until I draw near to you again – until I enter your presence
Then I am reminded that you know them, you know what they do and you are in control of their final destiny.
They will be ruined and destroyed
When I turn from you Lord, when I forget you,
I am senseless, like a brute beast
Yet I am always with you
You hold me by my right hand
You guide me with your counsel
And afterward you will take me into glory
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you
My flesh and my heart may fail
But you are the strength of my heart and my portion forever
For me, it is good to be near you
I have made you, Sovereign Lord, my refuge
I will tell of all your deeds.
